Human Resources Information Systems Group (HRIS) – Ascender HR Consortium

HRIS - Human Resource Information Systems Group

The HES Human Resource Information Systems Group was formed in 1994 and is an extremely proactive and collaborative group of representatives from 19 universities whose principal focus is promoting effective business improvement in HR management through the development of efficient business models and associated technology developments. All current participating universities sub-licence the Ascender HR system through Higher Ed Services.

The group has an elected executive committee that provides advice on collaborative activities and best practice initiatives beneficial to participating universities. The HRIS Group's strategic objectives are to achieve significant improvements for HR processes including emerging legislative requirements.

The group shares a significant knowledge base on HR management practices and universities frequently share information on local developments and present seminars to ensure best practice HR solutions.

HES coordinates the development of collaborative initiatives such as Accelerated Developments on behalf of the group and is the corporate entity for contracting with the HR management system service provider, Ascender.

The HRIS Group leads developments in business process and functional developments which benefit all universities using Ascender. The Group address a myriad of topical business and information management issues relating to Human Resources management.

The HRIS Group membership comprises a broad range of universities, including at least one member university from each of the major groupings,

ie Group of 8, Innovative Research, Regional, ATN, and New Generation.
